Pet Sitting - A pet sitter is someone who stops by 2 to 3 times a day to care for your pets while you are away on business or vacation.  If you have dogs the visit consists of a walk, or letting the dogs out during each visit, giving them fresh water and a treat, or whatever you prefer.  For cats we feed them and change their water, clean their litter boxes, give them fresh water and a treat, or whatever you prefer. We also bring in mail, newspapers and flyers in your driveway, garbage and recycle cans and we alternate lighting to make it look like somebody's home for security reasons, at no extra charge.  We always clean up after every pet on every visit and most people are very surprised to find their house looking better than when they left.

Cage-Free Home Dog Boarding - We board dogs in our cage-free, non-smoking homes.  We only board 1 to 2 dogs at a time unless there are more from the same household, so your dog gets the one-on-one kind of attention he or she deserves.  Our facilities and our business practices are nothing like a kennel.  Please visit our dog boarding pages to see what we offer.  Cage-Free Dog Boarding.

  • While you are away, we will spend daily quality time with your dog.

  • We care, feed and give treats, and fresh water to your dog as per your instructions.

  • Walk take your dog out in the yard starting at about 7:00 AM until about 10:00 PM and about every few hours in between. During nice weather we spend most of the day outside.

Additionally a condition known as predatory drift can occur in such large groups, and besides boarding 30 to 50 dogs of all sizes can be dangerous especially to the smaller dogs.
Predatory drift is a condition that happens when normal play between dogs suddenly drifts into predator mode when the dogís predatory instincts kick in and take over.  If something is not done immediately to stop the predatory behavior, it can turn very violent, and even deadly very quickly.
There are numerous documented cases where dogs were either mauled or killed by otherwise perfectly nice, normal dogs.
Predatory drift can happen suddenly and unpredictably, but almost always occurs during intense play.  It can even occur between dogs who have known each other and have played together for years and have always gotten along.
    What suddenly triggers a fight?
The cause of predatory drift can be pain, a yelp or scream, or over-arousal type play that gets out of hand, or too rough. It can happen when a dog is hurt or frightened by another dog in play and squeals. The squeal triggers a predatory reaction, which can ripple through the entire pack in an instant.
Unless qualified, knowledgeable people are right there to stop it, the result is what happened to an Old English Sheepdog named Jasper who yelped and was violently attacked by 13 dogs he knew and had played with several times.
The attacking dogs are not bad dogs. They are simply dogs. It isnít a conscious reaction; itís just instinctive

    Google's Definition
    :
Predatory drift is nothing to do with aggression, rather prey drive. It happens when dogs are playing and something that one dog does, or something around them triggers a prey drive response in one of the dogs resulting in the dog no longer seeing it's playmate as a dog but rather as prey.
Because of the potential of predatory drift we never overload our boarding homes with 10 to 15 dogs. We limit our boarding homes to a maximum of 1 to 2 dogs each unless there are more from the same household, depending on the size of the dogs and who they are boarding with.
We have been told by some of our clients who have used the large warehouse franchise companies to board their dogs that there were 20 plus dogs in 1 room with 1 to 2 handlers who were mostly very young and did not appear to be experienced.
Knowing what we know, we could never leave our dogs at one of the large high volume dog boarding franchises because we wouldn't be able to sleep at night wondering if they were okay.
It's our goal to provide a safe, dependable, and affectionate environment for your dogs that lets you relax and have as much fun on your vacation as your dogs will have on theirs.
We're not trying to scare you, we just think this is something you should know and something that anyone who handles dogs professionally should be aware of and should know what to do if it happens.
