How To Start Your
Own Pet Sitting & Dog Walking Service Today
My name is Darlene Sawyer, owner of
Aunt Darlene's Pet Sitting & Dog Walking Service, LLC
in Middlesex County, New Jersey.
I started my pet sitting business in September 2003 and within a week I had my
first client and now in 2010, 7 years later I have provided my services
for over 800 different pets. I have 3 pet sitters who walk 18 to 24 dogs
daily Monday Through Friday, and also a few more pet sitting jobs
most weeks and weekends for clients on vacation. We also board dogs in our home
and have an average of 3 to 4 dogs everyday at $40 to $50 per dog
per day. This year my business is on track to gross $130,000.00+
and I will personally make over $90,000.00 even in this really bad economy. It's a
recession proof business if you do it right. My ex-coworkers, and
bosses who laughed and snickered at me when I told them I was starting
my own pet sitting business in 2003 aren't laughing anymore. I saw
one of the Lawyers I used to work for at a function and he asked me with
a big grin how my doggie business was doing. You should have seen
his expression change when I told him how many pet sitters I have
and how much money I am making. Suddenly he wanted to hear all
about it. I think I'm making more than he is. Seeing him
made me remember why I wanted to quit my job in the first place, and
made me appreciate my new life even more!
Just like me, if your goal is to start your own pet
sitting, dog walking, or in-home dog boarding business than you must
have a well laid out plan in order to succeed. Just having a goal
alone is not a way to succeed. If you are going to achieve success
in anything you must follow some rules that can help to ensure your
success. The reason most businesses fail is lack of, or poor
planning. If you want to succeed the easiest way is to copy what
someone else, who is successful, is doing to the letter and you will
become successful too. It's that simple. That's what I did
and it worked way better for me than anyone, even me, ever expected.
All I did was, I decided that I wanted to be a pet sitter, did some
searching for information online and found a book that gave me the plan
that I used to start and become one of the biggest pet sitting companies
in the entire state of New Jersey.
Best of luck in your pet sitting business,
